KFC has a different idea of corporate transparency than most humans do

It’s not uncommon for an animal-based business to have an animal welfare advisory board – you pay a bunch of experts to be on them, and you’ve got instant credibility, or at least some decent material for press releases responding to the latest bit of horrible news that some pesky AR group manages to leak. Now, imagine being able to claim you’ve got an advisory board, but you don’t have to actually do anything with their input, and they couldn’t tell anyone. As Dave Noisy reports, that’s what KFC tried to do recently when they tried to get their board members to sign confidentiality agreements. Unfortunately for the chicken chokers, two big name slaughter experts have quit the board in protest, and now there’s yet another bit of bad press out there. It’s not known if the rest of the board members have objected to the agreement, or if they’re content to just take the money and shut up. I think KFC is responding with the installation of a Stupid PR Decisions advisory board, but they’re not talking.
