This week’s a solo show, and Jason’s the host. Funny how that works, eh?
First of all (whoops, I guess this is second of all, silly editing…) sorry for not getting this out on Tuesday like I promised, but the plague has struck, yes again, and I was a little bit out of action for some of this week. I’m feeling better now, thanks in part to the magic of coffee that’s not from McDonald’s.
So what’s this week’s show about? Pretty much what I just said, plus some ideas about how VP could rock the iPad. Because as everyone knows, there hasn’t been nearly enough coverage in the media about that thing.
You can listen directly, but as always, because I am lazy, iTunes listeners get first dibs, so subscribe to the feed already!
This week’s show isn’t even 24 minutes long. Keifer Sutherland could manage to fit it into his schedule, and in case you haven’t noticed, that guy’s running out of time!

The long awaited Porncast episode 8 is spurting out across the internet directly into your ears.
Ewwwwww.
I blame PonderingWillow’s influence. She found our unofficial show sponsor: Waffles!, after all.
There’s a lot of food in this one, and it’s all meaty in a vegan way, except for where it isn’t. Popcorn cookies and root beer pie. Do I really have to say anything else?
For those of you who, like us (and those of you who like us) can’t find vegan graham cracker crusts, pew has a recipe for us. She claims it might have been pulled out of her ass, but that step’s optional:
1/2 cup almonds
2T veg. oil
1/4 cup agave nectar
1 cup whole wheat pastry flour (don’t use reg whole wheat cuz that
would be nasty)
1/4 tsp salt
Mix all ingredients together, press onto pie pan, bake in a 350F
preheated oven for 20 mins
If you’re determined to learn how to roll out a proper crust, the Silpat is apparently of some help, as demonstrated by Julie Hasson (and not Dreena as we said in the porncast.)
Lastly, your homework has been done for you, should you too require the ability to make cupcakes the size of your head.
You can listen directly, but as always, because I am lazy, iTunes listeners get first dibs, so subscribe to the feed already!
Enjoy 35 minutes of audio nectar.

So @theveganlisa sent me something she knew I’d appreciate, and she was right, and it was a tale that had to be told, but I didn’t want to break out a big long story into the ever-changing VP format.
I then recalled a time when porncasts went out on Tuesdays, and voila, a 7 minute* quickie for your listening pleasure. Get it fron iTunes if you like (iTunes listeners get it hours before the website does) or listen directly if you prefer, but whatever you do, don’t click on the link that started it all until you’re done listening, or it’ll ruin the surprise.
* 6:54, to be precise: check it out.

Wow, this episode took as long to set up as it did to record as it did to edit as it took to post to the site! By way of apology, it’s twice as long. Guest co-host PonderingWillow suggested I cut it in two, but then it’d be even later. LazyWeb, feel free to edit as needed.
In episode 6, we talk about a bunch of stuff, including…
- The Swine Flu. One of us had it. Was it you?
- In case you don’t read The ‘Better often, my review of Eating Animals went up last week.
- The sequel to Shut Up Woman Get On My Horse might get you off bacon forever. Or just make you really mad at us. Or both of these things.
- Cookies as outreach and Jason’s chocolate cake story that he tells every damned time.
- Food processors are teh awesome.
- The scariest feature of Jason’s new oven.
- Soy Curls are also teh awesome, as we learned from this video.
- New feature: things we’re Too Lazy To Google. Help us LazyWeb!
- …And then it pretty much devolves into potty humour. You know, more.
This episode is a whickity-whickity-whack 54 and a half minutes long, and you can listen to it here.
Here’s the thing though: it was on iTunes this morning. You could have listened to our hour-long extravaganza like, 12 times already. Subscribe if you are able.

This week’s porncast features Angela! That’s right, no more listening to me making up stuff with no accountability. I can’t get away with nothin’ here, folks. And yet, I still find things to say.
This week we talk about how much it sucks to not have the use of half your home, aka the reason there wasn’t a show last week, along with some updates from episode 4 including some more info on food diaries (on hold pending having a proper place to cook,) reader suggestions on protein powder (Ryan recommends Country Life but I think I said I’d rather bathe in Vega) and some feedback on the first “Stop Doing That” segment. We wrap up with some ideas we got from Gary Vaynerchuk‘s book launch – are y’all up for some live video streams? Lemme know.
Oh, and we made this one exactly 30 minutes, which I thought was pretty cool. You can listen to it here, but of course you already got this from iTunes, right? I’m not playing favourites here, it just works out that the iTunes version shows up an hour or two ahead of these here posts, is all, so you might wanna check it out.

If we ever become homeless, the porncast will continue! That’s the semi-proven theory anyway, as tested last night in Toronto’s Grange Park. Joining me this week was long awaited guest co-host Shea Guevara. She normally uses names like Hamish McBookersons, but the Cuban theme was the perfect counterpoint to my new porncast name: Alejandro Jesus PORNCASTRO!
This week we cover my crazy adventures with Daily Burn as I try to come up with whole plant-based recipes that meet the ridiculously high protein requirements. It’s not the volume of protein that’s the problem – just getting them all in without a zillion calories in the process. Research continues.
We also launch a new segment called “Stop Doing That!” in which we debunk a pro-vegan argument that really shouldn’t be used anymore.
There’s probably other stuff, but the show’s only 31 minutes long, so go check for yourself.

For this week’s Porncast, Pondering Willow returns and, as is inevitable with these kinds of things, talk goes to food. It was almost lasers, but it turns out we know more about food.
Before that insanity, we have a quick shout out to Gabriel, who won last week’s scavenger hunt! My voice might actually be dulcet, which means sweet and soothing, but irony might be afoot, in which case your mom’s voice is dulcet. The actress we were looking for was Domenique Swain, who posed for this:

…but later went on this show and ate a burger just to show how “cool” she was. Well, we think so anyway. The video doesn’t play more than a minute for me.
We also got these shirts submitted:

Here’s Kelly’s:

This didn’t make the show, but Kelly also submitted her “reason why,” and if you’re on the Taste Better mailing list you’ll know I’m all over that these days so here you go:
I wear my t-shirts at EVERY veg event. seriously. have to represent. I wear them to sanctuaries too just in case someone in attendance is one of those “i love cuddly rescued animals but i do eat meat because i don’t see the connection there”. and I wear them on the street, when grocery shopping, etc etc. don’t wear them to work, because i have a hard time being “in your face” at work, where i work with a bunch of carnivorous assholes who go to great lengths to tell me how delicious their lunch of dead carcass tastes.
The search for a theme song continues! Gabriel suggested this one, but Pondering Willow recommended I talk to Dave Noisy. Dave, what’ve you got for me?
We also talk about food, the awesome folks at Food Fight and a bag they sell, vegan cheeses (and Mattie’s vegan cheese review) and other stuff.
You like stuff, and you’ve got 18:30 to spare, so have a listen.

Due to a scheduling conflict, my planned co-host and I didn’t connect for this episode, and while I considered just doing her voice or maybe using the vegan soundboard instead, I opted to go it alone.
ONE MAN! PORNCASTING ALONE!
Still, I think I did OK. To keep things interesting, there’s a scavenger hunt in this week’s episode that spans the whole celebrity vegetarian thing, the quest for a name for youse guys, suiting up, and video games vs perspective when it comes to activism.
This week’s episode clocks in at 27:17, and you can listen to it directly here or you can subscribe with iTunes by clicking on these here underlined words. A huge thank you to everyone who’s subscribed, it’s only week 2 and we’re already showing up on the first links in iTunes when you search for Vegan, which is awesome.

Today’s post about this weekend’s Toronto Vegetarian Food Fair is a sneaky one: you have to listen to the VEGAN PORNCAST to find out more!
As with all things VP, I didn’t get as far as I wanted with this project, but Tuesday is launch day AND today, so here’s episode 1. Soon we’ll have a dedicated page for these but if you’re the type who likes to subscribe in iTunes you can use this feed: http://content.veganporn.com/porncast.xml.
This week’s show is the best one yet!
VP alumni Pondering Willow joins us as guest co-host, and we try to figure out PETA’s Save The Whales campaign, gush praise for Isa Chandra Moskowitz and her many awesome cookbooks, go over a simple no-knead bread recipe, and then (sneak attack!) talk about Isa’s sometime-collaborator Terry Hope Romero, who’ll be at this weekend’s Food Fair!
The show runs for about 35 minutes, and this week’s sponsor is Vegan Merch, purveyor of fine vegan t-shirts.
The Vegan Porncast runs weekly. If you’re interested in co-hosting a future episode, get in touch. Ditto for sponsoring, so we don’t have to spend all our time making business websites just so it looks like we have a different sponsor every week.
And don’t forget to comment here!
